Battle of the Clubs: 2009

Almost a year ago we entered the “Battle of the Clubs” Competition, organised by DSLR User magazine. There were ten monthly rounds, each on a different theme. Sixty eight clubs entered, and at the end of the competition we found ourselves in a very commendable 7th place.

The DAPA Group were the overall winners, with Wigan 10 as runners-up. We finished just a few points behind The Arden Group and Dumfries Camera Club, so we were far from disgraced.

Our strongest rounds were “Abstract” and “People and Portraits” and our two weakest rounds were, surprisingly, “Photoshop” and “Animals”. Which just goes to show – there’s nowt so queer as judges.

A thankyou is due to all those members who submitted work for the competition, namely Jon Baker, Irene Froy, Geoff Owen, Alan Lees, Chris Lewis, Kevin Millington, Audrey and Russell Price, Peter and Eileen Rees, Roger Hague and Tony Thomas.
